Provides general health care to adolescent and adult patients, including assessing and treating a wide variety of conditions, ailments, and injuries, under direction of the Clinical Director. Diagnoses, manages, and treats patients, including gynecologic and sexual health visits. Appropriate referral to specialty care when needed. PA Licensure required.xc2xa0xc2xa0Responsibilities include: xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Applying professional physician concepts, examines and diagnoses patients, prescribes and administers medical treatments, advises patients on how to use medications, performs select procedures, and performs other medical functions, as authorized. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Orders examinations, analyses, X-rays, special diets, and writes prescriptions. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Reviews charts and provides consultation to nurse practitioners. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Serves as resource and provides medical guidance to nurses and other members of clinical staff. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Attends and participates in staff conferences. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Adapts to changing paradigms in the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, highly accessible, cost-effective care to the campus patient population. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and professionalism with patients and clinical team members.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2This is a full time 10 month position. xc2xa0Physician has two summer months off each year.xe2x80xa2Provides primary medical care to Temple University students: xc2xa0assesses and manages students with acute episodic and chronic illness on an appointment and urgent walk-in basis.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Obtains health history and performs appropriate physical examinations on patients.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Recommends appropriate treatments for specified medical conditions. xc2xa0xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Provides relevant health instruction, counseling and principles of health promotion and maintenance. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Appropriately coordinate follow-up care, including referrals. xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Documents clearly and appropriately in electronic medical record in a timely basis.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Provides medical oversight to nursing and staff including CRNPxe2x80x99s, DNPxe2x80x99s, RNs, LPNs, and medical assistants.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Participate in the written collaboration agreement with Nurse Practitioners, including prescribing and chart review.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Assists in the development of medical and nursing protocols.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Maintains Continuing Education requirements for licensure.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Remains up to date in area of primary specialty and student health care. xc2xa0 xc2xa0xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Investigates and implements best practices; relies on technical expertise, peers, and management for problem-solving resources; makes decisions, within scope of professional practice, that impact clinical care within student health.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Care is mainly rendered at Main Campus, but coverage of Health Sciences Campus may occur. Staff Physician may be assigned to either of these sites.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Participates in staff meetings, quality improvement projects and committees as appropriate.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Participates in the maintenance of an appropriate formulary by making recommendations for medical and surgical supplies to appropriate committee.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Assists in the coordination of outreach in cooperation with other departments, where appropriate, for specific medical issues, e.g., immunization programs for health sciences students.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Promotes health education and illness prevention initiatives throughout the university.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Utilizes laboratory and dispensary services appropriately.xc2xa0xe2x80xa2Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience:MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certified or board eligible in family medicine, internal medicine or adolescent medicine, if board-eligible, must pass boards within one year of hire. xc2xa0Prefer previous clinical experience in a University Student Health office.
